Except for the blistering heat, peach season rules.
Peach Jam Scones
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 ripe peaches, skinned, sliced thin
- 2 tbsp peach jam with amaretto (or regular peach jam)
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg (skip if using our jam recipe)
- cinnamon sugar for dusting
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg (if using), baking soda and salt. Stir to combine, then cut in butter with a fork or pastry cutter. In a small bowl, combine buttermilk and egg, whisk lightly. Pour into dry mix and stir just to combine. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface. Pat into an 8 to 10 inch round. Place peach jam in the center then the peaches, spreading out evenly but giving yourself room, about two inches, around the edge. Fold dough up and around the peach center. Tuck everything in to make sure there’s no leakage. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 375 until golden and the dough is set, about 20-25 minutes. Cool for about 10 minutes, cut and serve.
Another winning use of your home made jam.
Making eating scones even easier !
Lordy me.. give me a spoonful of whipped cream and a fork π Talk about afternoon tea! LOL It’s right about that time now.
Would love this for my breakfast with a good cup of coffee
Love the idea of peach scones.

I should not check in with you guys before breakfast, especially on days when there’s no time to cook….sounds wonderful. New England peaches can’t come close to the flavor of southern ones, even in a good year!
We’re just getting into our local peaches now. This looks fantastic with the chunks of great moist peaches.
I think I’d have to save it for pudding, but sounds delicious π
‘Tis the season for peaches, all I need know is a dollop of cream and a cup of coffee — YUM!
Breakfast dessert – the most under-rated meal of the day!
I’m all for dessert for breakfast. Always! And peaches are a big hit around our house this summer.
Peaches are everywhere and your scones look amazing!
Love this – your scones look awesome. Love how you rolled the scones out, then added the peaches and jam what a great way to get the fruit incorporated ———-
Also loved the twist of adding the peaches and jam after rolling out – brilliant!
Well that looks yummy! π
Can’t wait to try this out!
Great recipe!
Whoa! That scone looks like a piece of pie! Or cake! Or some other equally enjoyable baked dessert. No one would argue if you ate this for breakfast, or anytime throughout the day.
Ok…you know my weakness for scones! Peach jam with amaretto? Heck yeah! π
Aww shucks. Following yours was a tough act though!
Dessert for breakfast is the best!
Mmmmm peach scones! I want some!
Amen.
I’ve had real bum luck with peaches this year π¦ Last year I was scoffing them by the case load… not so much this year… can never seem to find any really nice ones. I love a nice scone – never tried them with peach though… they sound lovely!
Agreed. Hot weather blows. But, you have tasty looking scones to show for it!
dessert, breakfast, snack- i could eat these all day
Just want to reach in and grab that scone!
This is my ideal breakfast. Looks delicious!
Peach scones sound so good right now – might need to turn on the oven for these despite how hot it is!
YumβI love scones, but haven’t had peach yetβsounds great!
All your peachy recipes have sent me shopping for a kilo of them… can’t wait to dig in π
You are a brave man to be baking in your 100 degree days but your end result sounds like it would be worth heating up the kitchen. The scones sound terrific.
Well we have to have AC down here!
