We took a little road trip up north recently to the Ozarks and a little town called Eureka Springs. It was rainy and we didn’t take many photos, a first for Greg. But we did bring back some souvenirs. Every single one of them was food related, except the hotel shampoo and even that was sage scented. We got the spice rack above and the decanter below at a little antique shop in the town of Leslie.
And we had to stop at a winery….
We didn’t even know there was a St. Joe, Arkansas but that’s where Coursey’s sells its smoked hams, turkey, sausage and BACON!
And on a day the state’s football team was getting rolltided (Jed this will probably be our only reference ever to college football) we stopped at a road stand south of Leslie to buy some apples and cider that came all the way from Alabama. How do you like them apples?
Looks like a fun trip! Ours seem to revolve around food too. Welcome home and hope you had a great time. π
A tasty trip to be sure! What fun. The decanter is going to come in handy. I bet that bacon made the whole house smell divine.
Great minds think alike … I thought the decanter was gorgeous and could just imagine enoying a plate of crispy smoked bacon. π
Sexy shopping:)
That all looks so good!
Nice!
The crystal decanter is lovely. btw That was my maiden name.
It all looks good. maybe you can help me out. Having trouble soring ingredients in Prague, especially spices. Do you know any online dealers that deliver to europe?
I don’t. Have you asked you FB friends?
It’s been years since I’ve been to Eureka Springs. One of my favorite cookbooks comes from there.
Cool, which one?
Awesome sounding road trip!
I didn’t know you could get rolltided before. I’m cracking up. I’m a VOL from way back but we never put the tide in past tense. The decanter is lovely and I wish we could get bacon like that down here.
This is why traveling is so much fun!
Eureka! Great finds, you guys. Can’t wait to see what’s going to end up in that decanter.
OMG, I know where Eureka Springs is. Nice.
That was a very productive trip!
I love the Decanter! That’s beautiful!
You guys scored!
You guys might enjoy this . . . and it might inspire you to take another road trip, to check out BBQ, in the Southern states:
Thanks, Nancy!
Not entirely accurate for North Carolina (& they claim to be from there, looks like they were at the Festival for the Eno River)….. Eastern North Carolina is vinegar based. & ever so slightly hot/spicy. Western NC BBQ is tomato based & a wee bit sweeter. Bot are excellent. Oh & Eastern NC is pork, NOT beef! YUM!
That’s quite the haul! You’ve given me the itch for a road trip now! I especially love antique shops and would drop quite a few bucks in that shop you were in!
Love the decanter and the smoked bacon. Maybe you could make a liqueur to fill the decanter and then use it with bacon in a recipe….just a suggestion. LOL.
Oh I love the spice rack!
Some of that stuff looks Hungarian, but it’s maybe because I have Hungary on my mind! What a nice trip; we’ll be heading home soon, last stop being Paris!
I am staring at that jug of fresh cider like I can somehow will it to travel through the monitor and into my kitchen. Fresh cider is such a treat.
Ha! How did you ever wind up in Leslie, of all places? π
The roosters have stolen my heart!
I love all the local goodies you picked up! Those are what makes trips so special and memorable to me.
I love going to Eureka Springs! Sounds like you had a great road trip!
