Anyone can make coffee. If you don’t have the ability to make espresso, cappuccino or other Italian-sounding drinks, well too bad. Not to mention I think there is some holiday around now that may or may not have something to do with Italy.
Froth enough milk to make three cups cappuccino which, depending on your espresso machine, could be two batches. Do this because even if you drink alone, there should be a second cup.
Irish Cappuccino
- 1 ounce Irish whiskey
- 1/2-1 tsp sugar
- 2 ounces espresso
- frothed milk
- cinnamon sugar/chocolate shavings for dusting
For each drink, add sugar and whiskey to a cappuccino mug. Pour in two ounces espresso then top to rim with frothed milk. Garnish with cinnamon sugar and or shaved chocolate. Serve with a shot of Irish whiskey on the side.
Love the cup and saucer… you can have mine… do not drink coffee but you should have both for all the wonderful Irish Dishes and such that you have shared with us!
It’s after midnight in my part of the country so Happy St. Paddy’s Day and I guess the ‘wearing of the green’ has got an early start. π
A beautiful photo of an inviting drink. A second cup, even if you drink alone? I like that.
Happy St. Patrick’s and St. Joseph’s Day.
I am debating whether or not to veer from my boring grocery list and capture some Lucky Charms and make that fun milkshake, That has stayed with me since I saw it!
Looks delicious, but every rugby loving Englishman is thinking about beating the Irish today ( it’s the final rugby match of the highly competitive Six Nations Tournament) rather than drinking Irish coffee:)
Skip the sugar and I will take a double please.
π Mandy
I like how Mandy thinks. Make mine a double, too, but skip the sugar, reserve the espresso for your 2nd cup, 86 the milk, and hold the cinnamon sure/chocolate. Now this is my kinda coffee!
Ok, you got me with this one – I LOVE Irish Coffee.
Another fan of your coffee cup, gorgeous!
My first husband – who was German, actually – loved to make Irish coffee, and I remember enjoying a couple of sips, but it was more to please him than for the flavor. Whiskey is way too strong for me.
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Irish whiskey in a cuppa cappuccino. woohoo!
Who could go past that CUP! A little grog and a little coffee in a super little cup.. ah.. a perfect world. .morning greg and katherine, hope you are going to have a fab weekend. c

Yum. I could drink that this morning…
Yes… I’m in love with the cup as well.. I have a thing for dishes and cutlery.. I was just considering whether I should make one of these this morning. Maybe after I walk the dog, then back to bed I go! Love your humor these past few posts!!

Happy St Pat’s day!
That’s a very festive mug for a very festive coffee. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, guys!
Bring the Good luck Charm !!… Happy St. Patrick’s day !!
Really lovely – for any day:)
Sounds like a great St. Pat’s treat!
I’m never sure when to drink these. Booze in the morning or caffeine at night? Go away, decaf.
I agree… There should always be enough coffee left for another round.
Mmmmm! I love this as an after dinner drink with some dessert. I haven’t had one in ages. π
Now that I have a bottle of Irish Whiskey, I definitely need to make this!! And why stop at only 1 day to celebrate St. Patty’s! I go for the whole weekend!!
If only I had some whiskey on this fine post-St. Patrick’s Day morning/afternoon! This looks wonderful. I’ll have to try it sometime!
So perfect for the Irish holiday and with a great kick π
Awesome recipe!

frothed milk β€
And for those of us who don’t have a milk frother, you can use the microwave to do a decent substitute. π
Thank you! π
I cannot do coffee after dark – wonder if anyone will mind if I add the whisky to my breakfast cappuccino?
I;m trying to figure out how I missed this recipe but.. I love it. I may not drink coffee, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a barrista π
I am not good with coffee after dark either but love Irish coffee and will try it early in the afternoon.
