This is an easy way to use up a less than fantastic dry champagne without any juice in the house. Don’t go too sweet since you’re adding sugar!

Champagne Cocktail

  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3-5 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Brut champagne

Place sugar cube in champagne glass. Soak in bitters. Fill glass with champagne and watch it bubble.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

  1. favourite kind of bubbles, those tiny tasty ones.. c

  2. Love champagne cocktails. We’ve been trying ours with a wee dash of whisky barrel bitters on the cubes as well as the angostura (not good without the angostura!). Nice depth and takes a little edge off of the sweet.
