Garlic Update

Looking good already

Looking good already

A reader helped me recall that this year I planted soft neck garlic for the first time. This is the reason why there were not any scapes and the stalks all fell over weeks ago but the garlic is still thriving and growing.

I went through and pulled any stalks that had completely browned and made sure nothing was rotting, but at this point the garlic is staying in the ground. It helps that we have had a very cool summer so far, not just for the garlic but for the tomatoes as well. I am guessing it will be one to two weeks until the garlic comes out and something else goes in.

I have not yet decided if I will try a late summer crop of tomatoes and peppers or maybe wait until late August and try favas one more time.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.
