The 20th Century

Don’t confuse me with a lemon drop

This drink will have you partying like it’s 1999, although the recipe actually dates to 1937 when it was first published in Cafe Royal Cocktail Book.

The 20th Century

  • 1½ ounces gin
  • 3/4 ounce Lillet
  • 3/4 ounce creme de cacao
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

Very interesting! I’ve never even heard of Lillet.

  5. This is my fave cocktail. We make it now with Cocchi Americano instead of Lillet, which is supposedly closer to the taste of the original Lillet used in the first one of these. Very tasty.

    I would love this one!
