That is a tasty pyramid of meatballs

These meatballs make a great appetizer or small plate. They can also be tossed with some sauteed vegetables and pasta for a quick dinner. They also taste really good dipped in a goat cheese and pesto dipping sauce.  This recipe will make about 25 fussball-sized meatballs.

Pesto and Pepper Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 jalapenos diced fine
  • 3 tbsp fresh pesto
  • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
  • Salt/pepper
  • Breadcrumbs

Mix everything together up to the breadcrumbs. Add enough breadcrumbs to make mixture form a rough dough. Grab about two fingers worth of meat and roll into a small ball. Place on a greased baking tray and continue to form meatballs. When done, bake at 365 degrees until cooked through, about 30 minutes. Serve hot. Meatballs can be formed and frozen raw to be cooked at a later date.

    I like the combination of pork and turkey with the fresh herbs and pesto in a meatball. I think meatballs need a bit of fat so adding the fat from the ground pork to the lean turkey meat is a healthy trade off between health and flavour.

    Yum. These look awesome. I am a huge fan of meatballs, but for some reason I’ve never made them at home. That has to change!
