We’ve had a weird spring, which makes us even more giddy to see strawberries at the farmers market. It’s hard to feel springy when you’re using your fireplace to stay warm on May 4. The temperature dropped from the 80s to the mid 40s that week. But berries always let us know summer is just around the corner.
We’ll be featuring strawberry recipes all week — salads, booze, desserts! — and highlighting a few of our old favorites. Here’s a look back at some of our favorites:
Strawberry Cobblers for Two

It is a little slice of heaven. Sinful heaven
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Such a healthy use of fresh strawberries
Spiced Strawberry Shortcakes

Just imagine what our 50th wedding anniversary dessert will look like
Strawberry Balsamic Granita

Like something from a dinner on True Blood
Strawberries Romanoff

Each layer could be eaten alone if you really had that kind of time

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide
This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.
Greg my friend… far out, you have a knack for creating stunning strawberry desserts! That cobbler looks incredible… loving the overflow from the ramekin, bubbling strawberry goodness! Sadly, strawberry season is leaving us here in Aus as we head towards winter. I am not looking forward to the boredom of endless apples, pears and oranges. Though I do like myself a good apple pie…
All I can say is Wow!
We’ve been having very wired weather too, in fact, it snowed and hailed yesterday! Strawberries actually seem a lifetime away but I love looking at your recipes.
A month away from strawberries here, and we have to hope that they don’t rot with the rain/heat combination that can go with a late season like this…I’m DYING for some!
awesome choices! that cobbler would make my beloved very very happy! π
Nice strawberry-palooza! Everything looks awesome.
Excited to see what the rest of the week brings:)
Wish Strawberries were cheap in Sydney…they’re not in season and I saw a small punnet for $7 the other day!
Wonderful! Sadly, the closest I can get to strawberries are frozen ones, but they are making me smile! Your post is top quality as always!
Dang it! Now you have me craving a pie or cobbler. I’m trying to keep off desserts for a few weeks too. π Love strawberry season!!!
That Strawberry Shortcake looks . . . FAB!
Jees! Do you know how to usher in a season! Each of these dishes was fantastic, Greg.
Holy moly you sure know how to cook with strawberries ! That cobbler looks divine.
Wow! These all look amazing!!! I’m inspired. π
Yum!!! To all of those recipes! I can’t wait until it’s strawberry season here!
