Strawberries may only be in season in California or Florida right now, but this is still a great Valentine’s Day dessert. It’s simple and can be made in advance. Also, it won’t weigh you down and goes great with champagne.
Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
- about 20 large strawberries
- 12 ounces dark chocolate (chips will work in a pinch)
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp milk or cream
Wash strawberries and pat dry. Don’t remove the stems. Line a large plate with wax or parchment paper. Combine chocolate, vinegar and milk in a heavy sauce pan. Set over medium heat. Whisk until the chocolate is melted and all ingredients are combined. Remove from heat. Dip strawberries into mix one by one. Set on wax paper. Refrigerate until hardened or about an hour.
Looks delicious!
So pretty! And I know they are delicious. Is there any other adjective to respond to good food?
Perfect for the month of February – Heart health and Valentine’s Day – a little romance, a little love and a little compassion!!!
What a great idea to add the balsamic vinegar!
Oooh, great combination. Now I can’t wait for strawberry season but it’s still so darn far off!
Looking good. All we’re missing here are the strawberries:)
Great idea!
Chocolate and balsamic are a wonderful combination, and add in the strawberries you have a sexy valentines dessert.
Dessert! Makes me smile 🙂
We love strawberries over here…so when I buy them out of season, we like to make it a celebration. This recipe will help……
We pick them at our local King’s Orchard in Feb.
To me, this dessert is perfect! Beautiful, small, not too decadent and simbolizes Valentine’s Day as no other… well, some might go for a red velvet cake, but wow, that’s hard to enjoy after a nice dinner. at least for me…
Nice post Katherine!
What a great idea to use balsamic vinegar in the chocolate. I’ve only ever made a glaze from the balsamic vinegar to drizzle over strawberries.
Such a simple thing to make but oh, so good! Adding the balsamic is a great idea, too.
Well, these sound very fabulous with the addition of Balsamic Vinegar. Great idea and thanks. I will add your secret ingredient to my next batch.
I don’t think I could keep Miss A away from these. 😉
Strawberries are in season here and I like anything with Balsamic vinegar in it. I will definitely give these a try.
Mmm… never tried this with basamic vinegar. Will have to keep that in mind 🙂
