Maple-Bourbon Pumpkin Pie

Pie is perfect for breakfast as well

Pumpkin pie belongs on any Thanksgiving table. This is one of our favorites, blending two staples in our house Bourbon and maple syrup.

Maple-Bourbon Pumpkin Pie

  • 1 pie crust
  • 1 15-ounce can of pumpkin puree
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • pinch cloves
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Using a pastry brush, brush one tablespoon of maple syrup over inside of uncooked pie crust, covering the bottom and about half way up the side.Β  Mix remaining ingredients, whisking well to blend. Pour in pie shell. Bake at 375 until almost set, about 75 minutes. The filling will set further as it cools.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

Are you sure the recipe is correct? I made this, and it seemed to have too much cream/milk added (1 cup heavy cream + 2/3 cup milk), and was not sweet – only 1 Tablespoon maple syrup. The pie didn’t taste much like pumpkin at all, and you couldn’t tell there was any maple at all. Was really looking forward to this pie, and it was pretty bland (you could taste the bourbon though…).
