This is a pretty quick dish that would work well for a weeknight dinner or fancy dinner party. The secret is Grand Marnier, accept no substitutes.
Pork with Apples
- 4 pork loin chops 1/2″ thick
- 4 apples cored and sliced into 1/4″ slices
- 1/4 cup Grand Marnier
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 3 tbsp honey
- Zest from 1 orange
- 4 tbsp parsley
- Salt/white pepper
Season pork with salt and white pepper. In a large frying pan melt 2 tbsp butter and cook apples until they are golden. Add liquor and bring to a boil. Add broth, honey, 2 tbsp parsley and orange zest and cook until reduced. about 10 minutes. Meanwhile place pork chops in oven and broil until cooked, about 5 minutes per side. Sprinkle parsley over and let rest 5 minutes covered with foil. Serve apples on top of chops with fresh parsley for garnish.
Now this takes pork chops and apples to a whole new level. 🙂
Now this one I’m definitely trying this week!
Ooo… I love the addition of orange and honey!
Why do you use white pepper instead of black? This dish looks super awesome and really quick and simple!
Pork and apples are a fail safe combination. The addition of Grand Marnier is an interesting thought.
Apples really go well with pork, love this recipe
Great combo but your sauce is something else. (Nice piece of china, by the way.)
Love the grand marnier in there!
ETOH makes everything tastes better.
Mmmmmmm….
What apple variety did you use?
Whatever’s on sale. I think it was a mix of Granny Smith and Fuji. We do it with whatever we have.
Looks great!
There is something about cooked apples and pork that just screams fall, and then there is the Grand Marnier which takes it to the next level. But honestly, you have got to get that parsley in check.
What lovely apple slices on even pretty pork chops!
This makes me think of my brother, who literally eats apple sauce with every meal. And no, he’s not a baby. He’s almost 40. But he loves apple sauce and pork chops so this is like the more grown-up version. Maybe I should make it for him.
We made this dish for company tonight and loved it! Grand Marnier is my favorite, how could this not be great? Thanks for this recipe — fabulous. Will definitely make it again!
Great, so glad you liked it.
This was so good. Surprised a good friend with it. A wonderful “fancy” fall dinner, but so easy. It won’t be the last time I make it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for letting us know. We love to hear that and are glad you liked it.
