Orange Lillet Cocktail, aka The OLC

There is a rooster on my shoulder

We didn’t have a name for this drink so we were going to use the first orange flower we thought of — the tiger lily. The second one was marigold, which just doesn’t have the same ring. Turns out tiger lily and marigold are taken.

How’s it taste? Kind of like a mimosa, but more floral, less bubbly — the drink, not the flowers.

The OLC

  • 4 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 ounces Lillet
  • 1 ounce cognac
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp orange flower water
  • egg white

Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds. Strain into a wine glass or champagne flute. Remove lid from shaker and spoon extra foam onto the top of the drink. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

Mmmm. Looks like a good one – and bonus, I’ll get to use more of the orange flower water. πŸ™‚

This looks great! I’ll take one!

  3. Lillet is a really old fashioned aperitif here. It’s not unusual to see faded, hand painted advertisements for Lillet on the side of houses in the small villages. I very much like this style of aperitif

Obviously, I’m a tad behind on my blog reading this week … but great cocktail! The orange color is fantastic. I actually like The OLC for the name. Yes, I’ll have The OLC. See? Nice ring to it.

  20. A more floral mimosa? Intriguing. I’ll have to try that because I do like me a mimosa every weekend!
