We didn’t have a name for this drink so we were going to use the first orange flower we thought of — the tiger lily. The second one was marigold, which just doesn’t have the same ring. Turns out tiger lily and marigold are taken.
How’s it taste? Kind of like a mimosa, but more floral, less bubbly — the drink, not the flowers.
The OLC
- 4 ounces orange juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 ounces Lillet
- 1 ounce cognac
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp orange flower water
- egg white
Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds. Strain into a wine glass or champagne flute. Remove lid from shaker and spoon extra foam onto the top of the drink. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.
Mmmm. Looks like a good one – and bonus, I’ll get to use more of the orange flower water. π
This looks great! I’ll take one!
Lillet is a really old fashioned aperitif here. It’s not unusual to see faded, hand painted advertisements for Lillet on the side of houses in the small villages. I very much like this style of aperitif
Excellent!
Hubby drinks martinis so after the last Bond Movie we have lillet in our cupboard!
That would be a perfect brunch beverage. Sounds delicious.
Seems delightful. Cheers!
Happy Thursday! What does Lillet taste like? Sure looks appealing…not drinking for another two weeks…

I think you need to have us all over for happy hour and apps! ASAP!
what time should I be over?
Oh I love Lillet. We went to a Bastille day party last year where it was being served–vive la France!
Looks refreshing and delicious!
I appreciate your blog so much, I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award! =D By the way, that drink looks delicious!
I take cognac and honey when I am going with some cold symptom.
Okay, I need to get some lillet. And cognac.
I think your OLC has a much finer “ring” to it.. I’d order one of these before the “marigold”..
oh how i love drinking. . . but i just have the cognac
What a wonderful drink looks refreshing, perfect for spring/summer cocktail party!
When I working in the wine biz, Lillet was one of those alcohol beverages that people would always look at with a confused face when I suggested it them. Great sounds concoction!
Obviously, I’m a tad behind on my blog reading this week … but great cocktail! The orange color is fantastic. I actually like The OLC for the name. Yes, I’ll have The OLC. See? Nice ring to it.
A more floral mimosa? Intriguing. I’ll have to try that because I do like me a mimosa every weekend!
I love Lillet, it is such a nice aperitif. I would love your cocktail.
I keep meaning to try an eggy cocktail…
