Lucky Milkshakes

They are always trying to take me lucky charms

We have not one, but two fellow bloggers to blame for this crazy concoction. Caroline, of Sweet Caroline’s blog, posted the recipe and JamieAnne of A Dash of Domestic provided the cereal. Seriously, we won a giveaway she was having and a few days later boxes of cereal were on our front stoop. We only made one change to the recipe, which you can see here, by adding a bit of Kahlua. We thought this was fitting since St. Patty’s Day is just around the corner. There’s a leprechaun on the box! Also, the Irish are the world’s top importer and producer of vanilla ice cream. That statistic, by the way, is as mythical as pots of gold at the end rainbows. They prefer chocolate.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’ll be back with another drink on Friday night. Yes, that’s right two cocktails posts in one week!

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

That’s an awesome use of cereal.

O’ Rufus. McRufus. Rufusanigan. Me thinks ye a wee bit Irish, eh?
By the way, alcohol in milkshakes is all the rage in the Burger Places here.
Grateful it is not a Shamrock Shake from McD’s, though. Top o the morning. This is a breakfast drink, right?

  3. What a creative idea!

  4. I once had panna cotta made with Frosty Flakes-flavored milk… but this takes the idea to a new level. I’ll be running out to buy Lucky Charms tomorrow!

  14. Caroline says:

I’ve had ants in my pants for over a week trying to guess which recipe you decided to make…far too much anticipation! What perfect timing for St. Patty’s Day. How did it taste with the Kahlua? I know the original recipe called for it, so it must taste delicious…I mean, how could it not? Next time I’ll definitely add it! Thanks for the shout out, of course. πŸ™‚

  16. BrainRants says:

I’d even eat the soggy Lucky Charms used in this recipe… with or without Kahlua.

  17. You are so, so fun and funny! This is great! Will tell my husband we have a use for all that kahlua. Now all we need are the “charms.”
btw…I thought about you all when I was here…interesting information about tomatoes and their connection to ARK http://nolagirlatheart.wordpress.com/2012/03/15/suncreek-garden-chronicles-the-tomato-debate/

  18. Um….interesting?
I want to see a photo of you DRINKING that concoction…. πŸ˜‰

  19. Creative recipe but I doubt I could stomach it, sorry. I’ll take my old fashioned vodka martini (it’s OK if you put a green olive in it this time, but NO green food colouring!)

  20. What a fun shake, and just in time for St. Patty’s Day. I haven’t had Lucky Charms in years!

Surprise, surprise … you guys made a boozy milkshake. But sounds good. I’ll ask you what I asked Caroline: Do you drink this in the morning or at night? Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

  26. That is one good milkshake for bringing good charms..

  27. Yes, more cocktails! Whee!

  28. Joanne says:

Lucky charms is the one cereal that I don’t consider to be bird food LOL. Bringing that to a milkshake….drool.

  29. Purely.. Kay says:

I just knew I’d seen these before over at Caroline’s blog. I can’t wait to make this for two of my girlfriends.. they will love it

  30. Kahlua in coffee and now kahlua in Lucky Charms.. I was thinking if I poured myself a bowl of charms with milk and kahlua on top, no one would ever know… hmmm.. maybe oatmeal too??

Father Jack will be a happy man πŸ˜‰

  32. We don’t get that cereal here so hang on, I am on my way so save me a glass too please.
