All four are mine
We thought we’d toast 2012 with a bit of bubbly and a look back at some of our favorite drink posts from 2011. But first, here’s a festive prosecco pear cocktail, from one of the many bloggers who helped make 2011 a very tasty year. Check out Hilary’s blog, bakingbad.com, and find her on Facebook. (That’s where we found her.)
Here’s to a happy New Year.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide
This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.
Wow! A ton of drinks. Any cocktails you guys like that use bitters. My fiance got me about 6 different types of bitters for Christmas. I need to find some cocktail recipes using them.
The old fashioned: https://rufusguide.wordpress.com/2011/10/06/dandy-brandy-drinks/. Also, what about a classic champagne cocktail, just calls for champagne, sugar and bitters. I don’t have the proportions off the top of my head.
Now that’s the way to toast the New Year! Wishing you both the best that 2012 has to offer. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year guys! Wishing you all the best and love those pomosas!
Lots of lovely drinks to look at. I’ll have to see how creative I can get with the alcohol I’ve got in the house though as the budget has been stretched too tight for any more trips to the liquor store. Till the spring at least. 🙂
Here’s to a very Merry New Year then and looking forward to more boozy posts in 2012!
oh, how I wish I ad a little more alcohol-tolerance, the drinks look amazing, but at most I can get a couple of sips, and stop right there…. (sigh)
that frigid russian is calling my name, strange as this phrase may sound! 🙂
how impossibly rude of me…. HAPPY NEW YEAR O BOTH OF YOU!
It s been great to follow uour blog this past year….
Thanks, Sally!
I want to visit your house for Happy Hour sometime. Every one of those looks great . . . especially the Italian and the Russian. Da!
Can I just come hang out with you and do a drink-making throw down? These all look incredible!
Happy New Year!!!
I definitely have loved all the drink recipes throughout this year. yes, I know I don’t drink but I do love to entertain. And these recipes certainly came in handy :). I hope you have a great New Year
Thanks, Kay. When we ran out of bubbly, Katherine was drinking the pear syrup with sparkling water and loved it!
What a cocktail list! A dastardly cough and cold, caught on a flight to the UK, has reduced my liquid intake to cough mixture and hot toddy. Have a great New Year and thanks for all your cool posts.
Thanks, Roger. Hope you feel better.
3 cheers for you both and your wonderful drinks 🙂
If I start now with the Breakfast Martini, I should be through the list by midnight and ready for my 12 grapes and the chimes…or maybe I´ll just be unconconscious in my “despensa” muttering things about Greg and Katherine my new Americano blogging pals and their dangerous cocktails! Have a wonderful celebration tonight, whatever you do…..and a Very Happy New Year, Felix Año Nuevo to you both 🙂
Ha, thanks. You should definitely space these out or who knows what you’ll confuse for grapes.
No excuses that there’s nothing to drink! Happy new year to you both!
What a great post for the final day of the year. Prosecco Pear caught my eye – which would seem to freshen the pallate to pave the way for a dessert with some port! (I couldn’t resist).
Have a safe New Years Eve … and thanks for your contributions this year.
Happy New Year, Greg and Katherine. It has been fun visiting your blog, reading your creative recipes, and enjoying your great sense of humor. All the best for the new year.
Even though I’m not a cocktail drinker, I love when you do them…the photos are always the best!
Much love and luck to you both in the coming year!
Well, I send you a very big Salut for this great blog of libations. It is the eve of cocktails and bubbly and I want to say how much I have enjoyed your posts my blogging friend and look forward to many more in 2012. I will toast us all tonight and our continuing commitment. Salut!
Prosecco pear cocktail sounds luscious! Thank you for reminding us all these lovely drinks! They might come in handy tonight 😉
Happy New Year to both of you!
They all look and sound delicious! happy Healthy New Year to you both and your family!
The lemon drop would be my favorite. Abundant blessings in the New Year to you!
Hallelujah for Lemon Drops!!! Couldn’t do without them. What a smashing list of ways to ring in and toast the New Year! Happy New Year to you and Katherine! Drink up and be safe! 🙂
I’m going to try all of these–but I’ll try not to do it in one night. That would make for a very unhappy New Year.
I hope you have a wonderful one!
Happy New Year!!!
I don’t think I can handle all these drink today….oh wait yes I can.
A very Happy New Year to you and Katherine!
I’m SO behind the times! I’ve only recently tasted a lemon drop, and Now I want Another! This one of yours (or is it Katherine’s?) far prettier than the one we recently ordered. And your photo, so pretty too! Thanks for this Rufus and for the fun reads and good recipes all year!
The one in the picture is Katherine’s if you link to it, my original one is in that post too.
It’s 6am on the 1st of January, and I find myself craving one of your pomosas. A little hair of the dog, perhaps.. 😉
