Jalapenos stuffed with feta

Bring on the spice or go crying home to mama

With the football season underway, it is time to think about snacks. These peppers are very easy to make and anyone who likes spicy food will gobble them up.

Remember to wash your hands well after cleaning out the ribs and seeds before touching any sensitive areas on your body. These can also be grilled on the barbecue instead of baked, in other words, great for tailgating

Feta Stuffed Jalapenos

  • 12 medium sized jalapenos
  • 4 ounces feta cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Dry white wine
  • Salt/pepper

Slice jalapenos in half and remove the seeds and white membranes. Place the cheese in a small bowl and drizzle enough wine to make the mixture into a paste. Add the parsley and season with salt and pepper. Spoon the filling into the pepper halves and place on a baking tray lined with foil. Cook in the oven at 350 degrees until cheese begins to brown, about 15 minutes. Serve hot or cold.

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

    These sound absolutely great.

  2. rutheh says:

Good advice about touching ANY sensitive areas of the body, hmmmmm, but whatever you do, don’t rub your eye! YIKES.

  3. ChgoJohn says:

These are so easy to prepare and so much healthier than jalapeΓ±o poppers. I’ve already sent the recipe to a few friends who are sure to love it — I know I will! Thanks on behalf of us all.

  4. Hang on I’m confused sensitive areas on your body can be grilled on the BBQ?!
*ahem* Actually I was cooking with a whole heap of chilli just before, I had a hot eyebrow as must have rubbed it.

  5. Carolyn Chan says:

They would be great with a cold cold glass of wine or beer!

  6. I had my intolerance test results on Monday and turns out I can’t eat chili peppers for 3 months. That means no Sriracha :/ jalapeΓ±os are ok so I gotta start trying recipes like these because I love hot peppers!

  7. BrainRants says:

You guys, jalapenos are snack food to me. Not saying this recipe woudn’t be awesome, though.

  8. I like the possibility of grilling these peppers! Sounds perfect for the viewing party I’m going to this Monday.

  9. Your lucky having such wonderful chillies available. Very nice idea.

  10. kat says:

Great healthy alternative to those fried ones!! These look yum as always πŸ™‚

  11. I have a few chillis lying around πŸ˜‰ Can you believe IΒ΄ve never made these? How remiss of me!

  12. You had me at feta & wine! These are right up my street, delicious!!

  13. I’m not a big jalapeno fan but they sure look good. I’m going to share this with my sister-in-law. This is one of her favorite dishes to make!

  14. Tandy says:

this is one of David’s favourites! I try to remember to wear surgical gloves when working with chillies, as I have done the eye thing before πŸ™‚

  15. Stuffed with feta? That’s a new – and tasty – twist!

  16. sallybr says:

What a cool twist the use of feta! Loved it!

now, that mistake of not washing the hands after dealing with peppers, is the type of mistake we make ONCE. Never again…. I’ve done that… πŸ˜‰

  17. ceciliag says:

Sensitive parts of your body being your EYES!!! no lasting damage though i am happy to say! c

  18. easybaked says:

LOVE stuffed peppers– wear gloves though– even washing hands doesn’t prevent burns – I was up half the night once with Jalapeno burns on my hands 😦 What a PERFECT football snack- my family is gonna LOVE these–feta….YUM!!!!!

  19. nrhatch says:

I would pop a peck of those stuffed peppers! πŸ˜€

  20. Oh WOW! This looks like my kind of dish! I love chilli! πŸ˜€

  21. Mmm I love some heat in a snack so jalapeno poppers are also a win for me! Have you tried them with peanut butter?

  22. OK, I would love these. Our local italian grocer makes spicy proscuitto stuffed peppers… but I prefer yours with the cheese and the jalapeno size is perfect:)

  23. Lea Ann says:

    I’m loving this one!

  24. Kristy says:

Wash and wash again…your eyes will thank you. I still twitch at the sight of jalapenos. That said, these do look good. Maybe I can just get someone else to prepare them for me – or just buck up and get over it already. πŸ˜‰ Feta sounds like a good combo with the kick of a jalapeno.

  25. spicegirlfla says:

This is wonderful, football game or cocktail hour, I’d love this! And I wouldn’t change a thing, I like the feta combination.

  26. I saw a recipe recently for jalapeno poppers and it reminded me how much I used to love them. It’s hard to find good jalapeno snacks, though! This sounds like a good one.

  27. Sissi says:

Excellent snack idea! I would even say (from my experience with hot peppers): “remember to wash very quickly the knife and the cutting board too” πŸ™‚

  28. Charles says:

Oh man, I can imagine the picture – I’d be ploughing through these, tears streaming down from the heat, but unable to stop because of the wonderful stuffing πŸ˜€

By the way Greg, I don’t know if you caught my response to your comment on my blog (the black forest cake one…) – I think you took the quiz but something weird happened (I don’t know how it could have happened, I spent so long testing it before it was live, and it didn’t happen before or since then for anyone else) but basically it only saved responses for the last 8 questions of the quiz and not your contact details. I’m really sorry – if you wanted to try it again, hopefully it would work next time… sorry 😦 )

  29. My son would love these – he’s our ‘hot’ aficionado!

  30. these look fantastic. not only for football fans, but also for us hockey fans up north, eh!

  31. JamieAnne says:

Yum! I always wear gloves when I handle peppers. I learned from experience. Painful experience.

  32. Alison says:

These sound so much healthier than the ones i make. I am so using your recipe! Thank you!!!

  33. nancyc says:

Yum! I love feta cheese–what a great idea!

  34. niasunset says:

WOW! This is a wonderful idea… but I can’t eat these jalapenos… They should be very hot! But with other green peppers I can try! I loved it. Thank you dear Rufus, with my love, nia

  35. Oh man! I bet my husband would LOVE these! He’s all about jalapenos and loves feta! I’m going to have to put this stuff on my shopping list!

  36. I think I actually can gain weight from reading all of your posts! : )

  37. SimpleP says:

Wow. I would never think to use feta for stuffed peppers. Love that!

  38. I think I tried something like this at a party not long ago and regretted not asking for the recipe. I’ll have to try these! Great party food.

  39. rsmacaalay says:

    Grilled jalapenos, love the idea

  40. I haven’t had feta cheese in such a long time and these Jalapenos stuffed with this feta cheese is making my mouth water. Wonderful dish you guys

  41. Eva Taylor says:

I thought I’d commented on this, maybe Morocco time takes longer to post. I’d asked what’s the secret to washing your hand from the heat? My fingers seem to make a bee-line into my eyes so squinting for the next week. I love it that they are not fried!
Did you know that we can’t tailgate in Ontario? Our liquor laws are too strict!

    • Wow, our laws are so strict. Most places don’t allow Sunday sales, they just started allowing restaurants to serve before noon… but we have drive throughs, passengers can have open containers in cars and tailgating is king. We’re not football fans, so you won’t find us doing it.

  42. I reckon I can score a couple of extra bonus points if I make this for Pete.
    πŸ™‚ Mandy

  43. egg me on says:

How did I miss these?? Amazing! I could certainly gobble a lot of these up.

  44. This would have been good to have on hand yesterday…too bad i was behind on my Reader.

  45. PhobicFoodie says:

Oh yum! And I love spicy food! πŸ™‚

  46. Jessica says:

These are like super posh poppers. Or I guess you could also say a quite a bit healthier alternative…

  47. These look great but I can’t eat anything hot. Just can’t go jalapenos.

  48. Jen says:

What a great tailgating/football-watching food! We had a feta and jalapeno dip at a Greek restaurant that was really good, but I think I would like this better. I always have issues with my hands burning for hours after chopping jalapenos, though. I guess I need to start wearing gloves.

  49. scholasticfood says:

These look fantastic! I love everything about this recipe!

  50. Baked feta rocks! As do spicy peppers!

  51. lovelaughmirch says:

    WHAT! – how- who … I can not believe i missed this… feta + pepers = love!!!!
