Anejo Highballs

Tall drinks cast long shadows

We tend to drink a lot of old-school cocktails. Maybe we watch too much Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men. But here’s a great cocktail from this century that pays tribute to old-school cocktails of the 1900s. It was created by Dale DeGroff and is a bit similar to a Moscow Mule. It’s perfect for warmer weather.

Anejo Highballs

  • 1 1/2 ounces Anejo rum
  • 1/2 ounce orange curaco
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 2 ounces ginger beer
  • lime or orange wedge

Fill a Collins glass with ice. Pour in liquors, juice and bitters. Top with ginger beer and garnish with an orange or lime wedge.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.
