This is a really quick dinner. The fish can be prepared in the morning and cooked right before it is time to eat making this an excellent main course for a party as well. Make sure the salmon is high quality.
Of course only use 100 percent pure maple syrup for this or anything else you may eat.
Maple-Glazed Salmon
- 2 salmon steaks cut in half skin on
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp fresh ginger minced
- 1-2 green onions diced fine
- 1 tbsp butter
In a container large enough to fit the fish in one layer, mix syrup, soy sauce and ginger. Add fish and coat well. Marinate fish for at least four hours and up to a day in the refrigerator flipping every so often. Heat oven to 365 degrees. In a large oven-safe frying pan heat butter and sear salmon on the tops. Flip salmon so the skin is down and cook for about two minutes. Pour any remaining sauce over the tops and cook in oven until done to your liking. I like salmon slightly rare in the center, which took about five minutes. Remove pan from oven, cover and let fish rest for 10 minutes, it will continue to cook a bit so do not overcook it in the oven. Garnish with green onions and serve.
Looks like a great way to cook salmon as it can stand up to the strong flavours of the marinade.
I love salmon prepared this way, maple is a perfect match for the fish, in my opinion
Perfect meal to clse a busy day. π
Jake comes home tomorrow….and he’s bringing a bunch of salmon with him (cuz Alaskans can catch a certain amount of salmon every year). This is going to be GREAT. I’m so excited.
Maple and soy sauce are an interesting combo.
Oh my goodness! That looks scrumptious! We live in Alaska for the time being and I have to tell you there IS a difference in the salmon that you can get here if you “know a guy!” I will definitely miss that. Your recipe would make any salmon fillet heavenly. π
Lucky you!
This sounds really good — may have to prepare my next salmon this way. The flavors are fitting for fall.
Love that sauce idea. We eat salmon often and that’s an interesting take:)
Mmm.. I like salmon a lot.. and I’m always looking for new ways to eat it… I don’t have a ‘pan’ that goes into the oven, I’ve only got the typical baking/roast trays… would the salmon still sear nicely if I use those? Or should I sear it in a pan on the stove, then put it in a preheated tray? π
You can remove the salmon and put it on a roasting tray too!
I love salmon – and this is a new way that I’ll definitely be trying out. Gotta go get some maple syrup now! π
Gorgeous – lots of lovely flavours in that marinade!
Beautiful photo and such a delicious glaze.
I used to make a big bowl of salmon in this marinade when I ran the fish counter. It was always empty the next morning!
Oh, and use a grade B Dark Amber syrup for cooking instead of the light stuff you put on pancakes…much better flavor!
Thanks for that tip!
Wow! What a beautiful piece of salmon! Love the combination of maple, soy, and ginger!
That looks beautiful!
I like everything about how you prepared & cooked this, right down to leaving it a bit rare on the inside. Perfect!
I don’t cook fish nearly enough. Awesome glaze man. In fact, I’d say it’s pretty a-glazing. (I know … I’ve probably used that pun before. It’s been a long week.)
This looks so delicious!
That sounds absolutely fantastic. I like the cooking method too – I always manage to overcook salmon!
That is a tasty looking piece of salmon!
Ooh, just got some maple syrup today (thanks Eva!) – I’ve never tried it with salmon before, what an interesting combination, but as A_Boleyn said, it would definitely stand up to the flavours of the marinade well!
My boss just came back from salmon fishing and gave me about 1/3 of a fish! Perfect timing to see this post!
You have the world’s best boss!
It’s true.
The maple glaze sounds so good!
Love that maple glaze!
Look at that glaze, it makes the dish more enticing
Hey – we posted a similar dish earlier in the summer. Were you also influenced by the donna hay recipe?
it is such a nice combo!
We weren’t but would love to see it!
I’ve been looking for new ways to make salmon and this looks perfect!
