The Crossbow

Like water, but chocolate

It has come to our attention that chocolate is not featured prominently enough on the Rufus blog. (Katherine raised the issue.)

Here’s a drink that has a cool name and should help you get your chocolate fix. If it doesn’t, have another. The traditional recipe calls for equal parts of all the liquors. We cut back on the orange flavor.

The Crossbow

  • 1 part gin
  • 1 part creme de cacao
  • 1/2 part Cointreau or triple sec
  • cocoa powder for dusting

Sprinkle a bit of cocoa powder on a small plate. Wet the rim of a martini glass and dip onto the plate to line rim. Pour liquors in a shaker with ice and shake. Strain into prepared glass.

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide

This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.

It’s a bit early for one of those just now, but I might have to try one before supper ;-)

  5. Hmm, I never even realized that. There isn’t too much chocolate here. But, there’s plenty of other goodness!

There are so many good things here, but more chocolate is always a welcome addition. This sounds like something I have to try!

  14. I bet this is delicious but the glass does look a bit like it got left on a dirty drainer! ;)
