We’re meat and potatoes kind of people. But we try not to neglect other vegetables when making red meat, especially if it’s a meal like last Valentine’s Day and we’d already had a starch. Here’s what we served that night. We think we skipped dessert in favor of a nightcap, so we’ll throw one of those in too.
Shrimp with Redeye Gravy over Cheesy Grits

It’s like a fashion model on the runway
Coffee and Peppercorn Crusted Steaks

Just a small pat of butter there
Lemony Asparagus

The lemon is really good after roasting
The Batiste

Nothing can replace Grand Marnier, those sneaky bastards

About Rufus' Food and Spirits Guide
This blog attempts to collect some of the things I try to create with food and booze. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. My hope is to entertain and maybe help people think a little harder about what they decide to eat and drink.
Great meal!
I’ve made those lemon asparagus spears, YUM!
Must have been a good St Valentine’s:)
A little zip in your steak. Would go perfect with my zip sauce.
Gosh that steak looks good! All of it does!
Mmm…meat….
Love the idea of the coffee crusted steak – sounds delicious!
That’s a feast. I could eat it right now before breakfast.
I made shrimp and grits last night! My local grocery had a special, so how could I *not* get a nice mess of fresh shrimp… mmmmm!! (but yours is prettier… yup!)
Shrimp, grits, asparagus . . . and Grand Marnier as a closing note. Wow!
Hahaha.. “those sneaky bastards” they must be all in it together, eh?! Love the meal.. I wish I were just sitting down to it right this minute!
Thanks for remindng me about the lemon slices on the asparagus. I have adopted that technique (Thanks to you!) and love it!
Ah, I remember that coffee- and peppercorn-crusted stake fondly. Great meal!
Ok seriously… these were some of my fav recipes. Especially the shrimp and grits.. you know I loved that one
Mmmmmm! Looks superb! I love shrimp and grits !
I’m sold on the whole dinner, but surprisingly enough the asparagus is calling my name with those lemons. That’s saying something…you know me and my greens.
YUM!!! I skipped dinner tonight- an obvious mistake now that I’ve seen your pictures… coffee and peppercorns sound AMAZING…and that asparagus….I’ve got to go and make some dinner!
This would make a perfect Sunday dinner. And there isn’t even any pasta included. It must be good!
