Banana Daiquiri for One

By Katherine

The smell of bananas drives me bananas

We hardly ever have bananas in the house, because Greg hates them and trying to eat a bunch before they go brown is too challenging for me. Also, he won’t kiss me after I eat one until I brush my teeth, gargle mouthwash for a full minute and do 10 jumping jacks. I’ve never figured that last one out. Oh wait… Anyway, I still had a few frozen bananas left over from my mother’s banana-theft binge in Tennessee months ago and decided that a tropical fruit bomb was in order. Greg winced just taking the picture. If you’re like Greg and prefer daiquiris sans bananas, we did a post awhile back over at Sports Glutton that featured a recipe for a frozen berry daiquiri and one on the rocks.

Banana Daiquiri

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 ounce rum
  • 1/2 ounce peach schnapps or triple sec
  • grated fresh nutmeg to taste
  • the fruity garnish of your choice

Blend all ingredients in a blender, except the fruity garnish of your choice. You’ll need that for the garnish. Pour in a glass, garnish and drink.

  1. You two make me laugh!

  2. It’s taking every bit of will-power in my body not to go make one of these right now.

I’m not as bad as Greg but I don’t eat bananas out of hand. Occasionally my mom would request them and when she had enough of the most recent purchase, I’d use the remainder to make smoothies with frozen strawberries, yogurt, orange juice, milk and a bit of honey or sugar. Even more rarely I’ll use them to make banana bread but it stays in my freezer til I can give them away to a banana fan. I’ll have to look at the other daquiri options though the one above LOOKS lovely. πŸ™‚

I’ve got to vote with K on this one . . . even if I have to do jumping jacks as penance. πŸ˜†

  5. ChgoJohn says:

It’s been ages since I’ve seen a banana daiquiri and it sure does sound good, especially with a sprinkle of nutmeg. You guys have built up quite a collection of cocktails in your Spirits category. Well done!

  6. You guys are a blast a minute! Here is a toast to Katherine! Gambei! Take care, BAM

  7. Purely.. Kay says:

Maybe he makes you do 10 jumping kjacks because he wants to check you out? LOL. I love bananas though.. and wish I was a drinker for this recipe lol

  8. Neat cocktail stick – very retro!

  9. Tandy says:

I am not a banana fan but I know they are good for you, so I will eat them – never thought to add alcohol to them though – that might make them way better πŸ™‚

  10. I love bananas although they must be just off green – too ripe and the only thing they are good for is baking. Can’t say I have thought of making daiquiris before – sounds yummy.

  11. Charles says:

Now this looks like my kind of drink! Creamy, not too strong, and bananas are always a winner with me. I can’t understand how someone can dislike bananas… the idea seems alien to me πŸ˜€

  12. IΒ΄m with Greg on this one, but Big Man would love this. Particularly if he had to watch me doing Jumping Jacks while he drank it πŸ˜‰

  13. Gasp! I’ll help you drink banana daiquiris! This looks great.

  14. You ARE a difficult boy, aren’t you? Any other Forbidden Foods?
We already know about the raisins…
    Katherine, you’re a saint… πŸ˜‰

  15. BrainRants says:

    You had me at “rum.”

  16. Courtney says:

How can he not like bananas?? πŸ™‚ This reminds me of a drink we had on our honeymoon in Jamaica – a BBC (bananas, Bailey’s, and {pina}Colada). Boy do either of these sound good now – though probably not appropriate at 8 in the morning. πŸ˜‰

  17. Eva Taylor says:

This looks incredible Katherine, and just in time for cocktails tonight πŸ˜‰
You might like this recipe http://kitcheninspirations.wordpress.com/2011/08/20/banana-blueberry-ice-cream/ for Banana Blueberry Ice Cream…you won’t believe how creamy it is.
    10 jumping jacks? That Greg!!!!!

  18. Caroline says:

Too funny, I have a few friends who are just like Greg…can’t stand the sight, smell, sound of eating bananas, etc. But I love ’em! So this drink sounds delicious to me. Mmm!

  19. Mad Dog says:

Nice drink – I feel the same way about Marmite – kissing a girl who’s eaten it makes me gag!

  20. Rock Salt says:

Bananas + rum = awesome. You can’t argue with science.

  21. Amy says:

Nate’s the same way about bananas…it prob has something to do with the fact that the last three times he ate one were coincidentally after a marathon and he threw it right back up. I suppose maybe I wouldn’t like them in that case. Hope that didn’t make you lose your appetite, hehe. On another note, this looks awesome!

  22. We love bnanana’s in our home, I have to stop at the grocery store 2-3 times a week b/c my boys eat them like monkey’s. I will try this drink but without alcohol so my boys can enjoy it too! I wonder how rum extract would taste? I could also add some peach or apricot nectar in place of peach schnapps….oohh, that sounds like a wonderful smoothie, banana, coconut and apricots with a splace of rum extract!

  23. JamieAnne says:

As a banana fan, I approve this drink choice 100%!!!

  24. egg me on says:

Aww, the title of this post makes me a little sad, but it’s a very good lookin’ daiquiri, so hopefully drinking it made you very happy. Greg is just going to have to deal. Bananas are great!

  25. k.m. says:

You two always make me want to start hosting cocktail parties. Well, maybe this drink is more “summertime lounging in a hammock” πŸ™‚

  26. Yeah – Greg doesn’t like bananas – he’s nuts! Just kidding – this drink sounds delicious and my man Dan does like a banana….sounds perfect for a Saturday evening in April.

  27. Hahaha, I’ll have Greg’s if he doesn’t want it.. or them:)

  28. Kristy says:

I haven’t ever had a banana daquiri, but I’m thinking I need to! Fabulous! And thank you for the reminder of your mom’s banana theft. Gave me the giggle I needed tonight. πŸ™‚

  30. We love bananas. I knew he didn’t like raisins but didn’t know about the banana thing. I could use one of these right now.

  31. two for me, please!

  32. Jessica says:

I’m makin’ a lasagna daiquiri…for one. Katherine, I kind of want to make some raisin-studded banana bread for you. Wonder how many jumping jacks that would require?

  33. vavalrhum says:

As far as the bananas you can always mix the drnks with more fruit and rum such as strawberries ect ect
