One of my wife’s coworkers made this years back at a party. Let’s just say we monopolized the dip bowl at that gathering.
Strawberry dip
- 8 ounces sour cream, we recommend light it’s tangier
- 2 tbsp Amaretto
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2-4 Amaretti cookies, optional
Whisk together liquor and sugar. Stir in sour cream. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Before serving crumble the amaretti cookies on top. Serve with strawberries or mixed fruit.
Enticing description of a luscious recipe/presentation! And good strawberries should be plentiful soon.
Gorgeous! I love strawberry season as well and can’t wait to make some more delicious dishes featuring the fruit, such as this one.
Amretto and strawberries is one of my favorite all time combinations, I cannot wait to try this.
I love one-stop-shopping. Nice recipe!
Oh this looks wonderful! I’ve never tried strawberries with sour cream but I’ve heard it’s great. Good thing I happen to have all of the ingredients for this one on hand! 🙂
Ooh sounds delicious! And quick!
That looks amazing! My kids like to dip strawberries in sugar! Sour cream and cookies sound much better
What a brilliant idea – very original.
🙂 Mandy
Thanks, of course we didn’t come up with it.
Great dessert for a dinner party. I wonder if it would work with fromage blac or creme fraiche…
It’d be nice with creme fraiche.
Looks scrumpdeliicious! 🙂
I cannot wait to give this a try. It sounds delicious!
This is a good night snack for me, a better replacement for popcorns while watching movies.
I’m off to buy strawberries!
As usual, this picture calls me to take action. This looks so delicious.
Always something fresh and new. Y’all are so versatile. “Tangy” is how you describe lite sour cream…I never cared for it…but with fruit, sounds logical.
I normally prefer the full-fat stuff, but I think since you’re adding sugar and using it as a dip the lighter stuff works.
Yummm….. I have dipped my strawberries in sour cream below, but love that you added in the Amaretto and the crushed cookies. I’d be hanging out by that dip all night too!!
Ohhh yum!!! This is a must-try for me!! :-)))
Winner, Im always heading off to someones house at the beach after work and struggle to figure out what to bring thats easy and can be whipped together when we get there this is my new GO TO. By the way I saw someone asked about creme fraiche
what about vanilla bean greek yogurt any thoughts?
Hmm, that would work too. If it’s too thick add more Amaretto!
O.K. you have to stop this right now or I may have to report you to the blog police…..
I keep gaining weight from reading your delicious stuff!!
This one is a keeper, I think even I can master this recipe..thank you!
But it’s light sour cream!
Oh yum. This is definitely something I am going to try.
YUMMY! Will be giving this a try soon!!
amaretto & strawberries. sounds delish!
Now this is something I know my sister would absolutely love. I have to save this so she can make it.
I hope she likes it. The alcohol isn’t overpowering, hint, hint. A nondrinker could have a little taste if she wanted.:)
Apologies if you get two comments from me saying the same thing…it´s been one of those days! Anyway, love the amaretto and amaretti combination and we´ll be trying this soon as it´s strawberry time here!
Hope your day goes better and thanks.
Love, love, love strawberries and love, love, love amaretto…so combined…WOW! Looks and sound amazing Rufus! 🙂
Yes yes 1000 times yes!!!
Gorgeous, and sounds awesome. I however will probably need to find a substitute for the alcohol 🙂
Perhaps a bit of almond extract?
Okay, I’m in! This looks so good and easy. And thanks for passing my cheese crisp recipe on to your gluten free friend!
No problem. They’re a Southern staple!
Looks delicious and so easy! I’d probably use crème fraîche to whip this up…
Do you make your own?
Oh yum – I’m a huge fan of amaretto and amaretti. Have you guys tried this with ricotta instead of sour cream?
No but that sounds great.
Seriously… everytime I click onto your blog there is something even more awesome on offer…lol… amaretto??? LOVE IT… did not know you could also make a dip out of it- but guess what? I will!…. will report back… ;o)
Ha, I was just on your blog, but can’t watch the Arctic Monkeys on this screen, which sounds like a good thing!
This looks delicious! I’m definitely going to make it. And it meets my 5 ingredients or less rule. Bonus! =)
Totally in the vein of simple and great ideas! Can’t wait to try it.
Ooo yes. Now that would work. I’ve done a similar thing with vanilla mascarpone instead of the sour cream, but not in that kind of presentation. Will have to remember this one.
Curious about this dip, a healthier alternative to whipped cream 🙂
OMG, Yum! Besides the spirits *ahem – but seriously who doesn’t want spirits*, even the sous chefs could share this, and that would make them very very happy.
This looks gorgeous. Nice post.
Just tried out this recipe and it was great! I used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and my family really loved it!
Oh great. Our main grocery store has stopped carrying the larger containers of Greek yogurt. We’re organizing a protest!

I made this. It was amazing. Then I brought it to a group where about 2/3 of the women were pregnant and wouldn’t touch it. More for me!
We love the way you think!
